Dr. Ecem Ergin is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Architecture at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Istanbul. She holds a PhD in Architecture from the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL, an MS in Architecture from Pratt Institute, NY, and a BArch from Istanbul Technical University. During her undergraduate studies, she spent a year at Politecnico di Milano.

Ergin was a Career Transition Fellow at the UCL Doctoral School and an Honorary Research Fellow at the Bartlett School of Architecture. She has also been a Visiting Researcher at Yale School of Architecture and a Fellow at the MIT Department of Architecture’s History, Theory and Criticism (HTC) Summer Institute.

Her research examines the intersections of architecture, media, technology, and politics, focusing on how architectural representation and the built environment participate in the production, mediation, and legitimisation of knowledge. Her doctoral research investigated the changing relationship between architecture and digital media in the context of post-truth, with Times Square as a central case study.

Her current work extends these questions into artificial intelligence, extended reality, architectural pedagogy, public space, and speculative urban futures. Her creative and research work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Media Architecture Biennale, London Design Festival, and Edirne Biennial. Her photographic practice was recently presented in the solo exhibition Apart Together at Way Out East Gallery in London.

Alongside her academic research, Ergin maintains a multidisciplinary design practice spanning exhibition design, graphic design, photography, and web design, bringing these forms of visual communication into dialogue with her research on architecture and media.
